Intense Problems 14

Carly and Hailie arrive at the park and spend several minutes at the swings then move to a castle looking thing that has ladders, obstacle courses, swings, climbing ropes and crawling tubes.

“What’s so funny?” Hailie asks, as Carly can’t stop herself from laughing out loud, when she notices two men sitting on a bench a few feet away, having lunch together.

“Nothing Sweetheart . . . just thought of . . . a joke a friend told me a couple days ago.” Carly stumbles saying, as Hailie give her a smile, then climbs back up the rope, as Carly glances back of over at the two men.

“They’re just having lunch. So one has to feed the other. You’ve already been around Marshall to long.” Carly says to herself, as she helps Hailie off the ropes, and they walk over to the obstacle course.

There is two little girls Hailie’s size and age Carly guesses, already there and Hailie walks up and introduces herself, which Carly holds her breath for a spilt second, but sighs relief when Hailie only gives her first name.

Carly leans against a short wall that divides the obstacle course from the swing area, as Hailie and her new friends play.

“CARLY! Can we GO PLEASE?” Hailie yells, as the three little girls come running over to her.

“OH Please! Can we go see Harry Potter.” Hailie pleads, as the three girls pitifully look up at Carly.

“Harry Potter is playing at the real movies for the first time. Can we please go?” Hailie pleads, as an older well dressed woman walks up to them.

“Hello, I’m Buffy Franklin, and this is my daughter Angel and her friend Libby.” Buffy says, as her well-manicured hand with several gold chain bracelets reaches out to shake Carly’s hand.

“Carly Henning and this is Hailie.” Carly sincerely states, as she shakes Buffy’s hand.

“We’re having Girls Day Out. We started out with a trip to the hairdressers then shopping, lunch, more shopping and the park. Now we’re off to see Harry Potter.” Buffy states very formal, as Hailie and Carly look at each other, with their noses scrunched up with a SO expression.

“It’s a special showing of Harry Potter. Daniel Radcliffe is going to be there signing autographs.” Buffy states, as the three girls squeal in excitement.

“Who?” Carly asks, not really knowing that much about Harry Potter, as Hailie looks up at her, like she’s crazy.

“Daniel is Harry Potter. So can we please, please go?” Hailie pleads, as she gives Carly a pitiful look.

“Your Dad said hour and a half. Maybe he’s finished with work and would like to go also.”  Carly says with a smile, as Hailie looks as if she’s going to cry.

“He won’t care if we’re late. He’s always late!” Hailie states matter factly, as Carly laughs and looks at her watch again.

“Well you only have ten minutes, because it starts at four. So we have to be leaving. Say good bye girls.” Buffy states, as the three girls look up at Carly and her, with a pitiful expression.

“What theater is it?” Carly asks, as she looks at her watch again, as she debates what to do.

“The Center Cinema on 8-mile road. Let’s go girls! We don’t wanna be late.” Buffy says, as she smiles and takes the two girls hands, as Carly looks into the pitiful crystal blue eyes of Hailie.

“Alright! If your Dad is mad you’re the one that has to live with him.” Carly states with a smile, as she takes Hailie’s hand.

“He’s always mad about something.” Hailie says with a giggle, as everyone starts walking to the cars, the girls squealing joyfully, because Hailie going.

Carly and Buffy leave in their separate cars, and meet up at the theater. Once in the car Carly realizes that she doesn’t have her cel-phone, and prays to herself that Marshall will understand why they’re late.

The line is a lot longer than Buffy and Carly expected, but the girls are overly excited about meeting Daniel Radcliffe and don’t mind the wait.

After getting Daniel’s autograph, they stock up on popcorn, candy and soda and find seats in the theater. The three girls sit directly in front of Carly and Buffy and stare at their autographs till the movie starts.

Carly stresses about the large crowd and how late they’re going to be, but the expressions and actions of Hailie having a wonderful time with her new friends, is priceless and she’ll deal with Marshall’s actions later.

When the movie ends the girls exchange phone numbers and addresses and pinky promise to keep in touch.

On the drive to Marshall’s, Carly is practicing her speech on why they’re late, when they run into a little trouble on 8-mile road.
