Second Chance 14

“HONEY! We’re Home!” Proof jokily yells out, as they walk into the house.

“And Hungry!” Box quickly adds, glancing over at Proof, and knowing he’s thinking the same thing, it’s gonna be nice having Carly around again.

“Aaahh!” Carly yells, as she walks into the room and Proof quickly bear hugs her and swings her around.

“I’ve missed you!” Proof sincerely says, as he takes a step back.

“I missed you too!” Carly happily says as she kisses him on the cheek, and then takes a step back and hands Box several pizza menus.

“That’s your choices for dinner.” Carly says with a smile, as she glances at Marshall who has sat down by the toy box with Madison, and both seem not to know anyone else is in the room.

“My friend Dru and her husband Kevin and their little boy Kevvy are on their way over.” Carly says as she flops down in a chair, and both men nod in agreement as they look over the pizza menus.

“I’ll take everything on the menu.” Box jokily comments as he looks over the Pizza Hut menu, as Carly glances over at Marshall and Madison.

“This is some dumb toy Mommy thinks I need because it’s educational. I don’t get the black white thing.” Madison explains as he hands Marshall a black and white stuffed animal with buttons and snaps.

“I like these. Mommy stacks them like this. And I knock them down.” Madison says as he takes plastic blocks out and stacks three of them, and then knocks them down, and giggles.

“You were supposed to clap.” Madison comments as he hands one of the blocks to Marshall.

“This thing. Thanks! It tells you that this is a dog, cat, bunny, bird and cow.” Madison explains, as Marshall helps pull the bright colored plastic box fully out, and he begins pushing the buttons.

“Kinda of corny but I like it.” Madison comments as he continues to push the buttons, as Marshall holds on to it.

“Marshall!” Proof repeats for the third time as Carly is getting up to answer the door.

“What?” Marshall agitatedly asks with a quick glance at Proof, as Madison giggles, pushing the bright buttons over and over again.

“What would you like to eat?” Proof asks with a smile as he watches his best friend, whose totally lost in watching Madison play and giggle.

“Anything.” Marshall states without taking his eyes away from Madison, who looks up at a child that just walk over.

“HI!” Madison happily says, to Kevvy, as he continues to push the buttons.

“What’s your name?” Marshall asks, as Madison quickly pushes the toy out of Marshall lap and sits down, and looks up at Kevvy.

“Kevvy.” Kevvy bashfully says with a smile, as Marshall picks up one of the plastic blocks and hands it to him.

“I’m five.” Kevvy quickly adds as he sits down in front of them and starts stacking blocks.

“What’s your name?” Kevvy curiously asks, as he continues to stack the blocks.

“Marshall.” Marshall says, as he begins to hand Kevvy another block and Madison grabs it and hands it to Kevvy himself.

“He’s gonna be my Daddy.” Madison firmly states as Kevvy takes the block from him.

“You gonna be Maddie’s Daddy?” Kevvy curiously asks as he looks over at Marshall, who stops breathing for a second, as he wraps his arms tightly around Madison, kissing the back of his head.

Marshall quickly sits Madison on the floor and gets up and rushes past everyone towards the kitchen, as Madison begins to cry for him to come back, and he quickly does and then rushes from the room with Madison tightly in his arms.

Everyone looks at Carly totally confused, and she quickly goes into the kitchen, as Dru rushes over to Kevvy that looks like he’s about to cry.

“Are you alright?” Carly carefully asks as she looks at Marshall holding Madison tightly to his chest, rubbing his back as he rests his head on his, trying to calm him down.

“I don’t care how you do it! Just get rid of everybody.” Marshall calmly states as he looks directly into Carly eyes.

“Marshall?” Carly says totally confused, but can see in his eyes that he’s upset.

“Carly!” Marshall says as she begins slowly walking towards him.

“I deserve One Night.” Marshall firmly states as calmly as he can as Madison pulls on his t-shirt obviously looking for the medallion.

“Marshall calm down . . .” Carly begins to say as he interrupts.

“You’re doing that shaking thing again! Are you gonna drop me?” Madison asks in a worried tone, as he looks up at Marshall and he places a kiss on his forehead.

“I guess that’s a no.” Madison comments as he rest his head on Marshall’s chest.

“I’m perfectly calm. Now Do It!” Marshall firmly states.

“I’ll get rid of everyone.” Carly whispers in his ear as she leans into them, and then places a kiss on his cheek then Madison’s, then turns to leave but takes a quick glance back with a smile.
