Second Chance 19

After breakfast Carly lays out everything Marshall could possible need in giving Madison a bath. While they totally soak the bathroom Carly changes the bed sheets, and puts them in the washer. Then turns her attention to the kitchen, unloading the dishes from the dishwasher, then loading it with breakfast dishes and then wiping down the counters, table and Madison’s highchair.

Bathed and dressed Madison pulls toys from his toy box in his room, while Marshall sits in the rocker and watches him while he talks on the phone with Paul, arranging flights to Detroit then New York. Being only eleven months old Madison quickly becomes bored with the toys in his room, so Marshall takes him to the toy box in the living room, where he begins pulling toys out and only playing with it for only a second, before taking another. Meanwhile Carly cleans the bathroom and Madison’s room.

“Stop! I want both of You out of my house!” Carly announces coming down the steps to find toys everywhere, with Marshall lying on the floor on his back, lifting a very giggly Madison up and down in the air.

“All I’m doing is cleaning up after You Two!” Carly states walking over and standing over Marshall who gives her his best pitiful look.

“I’ve had to clean every room you two have been in! It’s a Beautiful Day! Go outside.” Carly quickly instructs pointing towards the kitchen, thinking that there is nothing outside that they can drag out or mess up.

“We Love You.” Marshall sincerely says standing up with Madison in his arms in front of Carly with his best pitiful expression.

“Yeah Mommy! We Love You!” Madison quickly adds, looking at his Mommy and can tell she’s mad about all the toys.

“I Love Both Of You! But the pitiful looks ani’t gonna work. There are riding toys, balls and a swing set outside. Go!” Carly says with a laugh as Marshall inches towards her with his pitiful expression, and then quickly places a kiss on her check.

“Mommy is throwing us out. Give her a kiss bye.” Marshall says to Madison, holding him out to Carly and she kisses his cheek.

“Bye.” Carly says waving to Madison as they are walking through the kitchen to the back patio doors.

“Bye Bye!” Madison says waving, as they got out the door.

Carly picks up all the toys in the living room, switches the sheets over to the dyer, and then grabs Marshall and her a glass of ice tea and Madison a cup of juice and a snack, and then goes out on the patio, to find Marshall swinging Madison in the baby swing.

“I brought you guys a drink.” Carly announces after a few seconds of watching them, setting the drinks down on the patio table, but quickly begins to frown as Marshall takes Madison from the swing and stands him up on the ground and Madison happily begins to walk towards the patio, Marshall very close behind just in case he would need help.

“What’s wrong?” Marshall urgently asks, as he is handing Madison his drink, noticing Carly’s expression.

“Thank You.” Madison says taking the cup, and tries to balance himself and the cup, but decides to just plop down on his butt, thanking a well padded diaper as he does.

“He’s growing up before you know it he’ll be going off to college then marry some . . . . . woman that I Know I’m Not Gonna Like! Cause she’ll make him move to France somewhere that I . . . I . . . I won’t be able to see him everyday. ” Carly emotionally explains almost in tears, as Marshall pulls her tightly to him.

“I think maybe we should worry about preschool first.” Marshall sincerely whispers in her ear, as his heart breaks knowing exactly what she talking about, having the same thoughts about Hailie, but quickly takes a deep breath coming to the relation that he ani’t gonna like the woman either.

“See It’s Like this . . . neither one of them is ever going to leave Detroit! Cause I said so! See I’ve already checked into putting bars on the windows.” Marshall firmly states as they both sit down, as Marshall glances over at Madison who is drinking his juice, as Carly laughs and glances over at him knowing he probably has checked on putting bars up on Hailie’s bedroom windows.

“What time do you have to leave?” Carly asks, not really wanting to know the answer, as Madison walks over and hands her his cup, then walks over to Marshall.

“I’m finished let’s go play.” Madison says, looking pitiful up at Marshall, as he is struggling for Marshall to pick him up.

“Around three.” Marshall sadly mumbles, as he takes Madison into his lap.

“You can come with me . . . . Hailie will really want to see you and Madison.” Marshall sincerely says, as he begins to bounce Madison on his knees, and he starts giggling.

Marshall . . . . .” Carly begins, knowing she can’t just pick and leave, but really wanting to talk to him about her thoughts and feeling, but he quickly interrupts.

“Just think about it.” Marshall quickly says, leaning over and kisses her quickly on the check, then stands.

“Please.” Marshall pleads with a smile, and then takes a very squirming Madison back to the swing.

Carly sits and watches them play on the swing, then roll the ball around the yard, and laughs out loud when Madison spots the cozy coop, and demands to be pushed, knowing Marshall’s back will definitely be hurting tomorrow, from her own experience.

After getting bored and wet, Madison gets out of the toy car, and rushes over to Carly as Marshall leans across the little tykes car, to scared to straighten up, but wondering why he took off towards Carly, yelling for his Mommy.

“Mommy! Mommy! I’m wet!” Madison yells out, as he is crossing the yard, and up to Carly who has walked out to meet him.

“Oooh. Now you want me.” Carly says with a laugh, picking him up and realizes by the feel of he’s saggy diaper that he’s wet.

“You goin to be okay?” Carly asks with another laugh, standing in front of Marshall lying over the toy car.

“Yeah.” Marshall says with a half laugh, looking up at her pitifully and very tried.

“I’m going to change him, and it’s almost lunchtime. Do you think you’ll make it?” Carly says with a laugh, as Marshall slowly straightens up holding his lower back.

“Yeah.” Marshall pitifully moans, as he begins to slowly follow her into the house.

Carly changes Madison and then feeds him lunch, as Marshall collapses on the sofa and is quickly asleep. After putting Madison down for his afternoon nap Carly quietly knells down in front of the sofa and watches Marshall sleep for several moments before slowly moving closer and placing a kiss gently on his lips, and then starts to get up as he sleepily reaches out and pulls her to him.

“Don’t Mommy’s have to take naps too?” Marshall sleepily says, pulling her down onto the sofa, and quickly spooning in behind her.

Carly rests her head on the throw pillow and Marshall rests his head on hers, placing several little kisses on her neck as he tightens his arm around her waist, as their legs tangle into the others.

“Have you thought about?” Marshall whispers, as Carly rolls over on her back and he repositions himself half on the sofa and half on her, and getting lost in her beautiful green eyes.

Marshall we really need to talk . . . I don’t want you to think . . . .” Carly begins to sincerely say, but Marshall quickly interrupts with a passionate kiss, that she quickly responds too.

“Seriously. . . . Marshall . . . . . I need to explain.” Carly breathlessly says, as she ties to push Marshall up, away from her neck.

“There’s nothing to explain.” Marshall mumbles, as he is passionately kissing on her neck, wishing this moment could last forever.

“Yes there IS!” Carly states getting agitated that he’s not listening, as she struggles to push him up.

“Okay I’m listening.” Marshall says leaning up resting on his elbow and smiles at her.

“I don’t want you to think . . . now that you know . . . . . that you have to stick around . . .” Carly sincerely explains, as Marshall quickly interrupts.

“Hold Up!” Marshall tries to interrupt, but Carly quickly place her hand over his mouth.

“I’m not finished! I don’t want you to think or feel obligated to be nice to me.” Carly says; as Marshall playfully bites down on her hand that over his mouth.

“You bite Me!” Carly says with a laugh.

“You said I didn’t have to be nice.” Marshall says with a laugh.

“Okay it didn’t come out right.” Carly says wrapping her arms around his neck, as he moves her hair from her face.

“Let me up . . . get up!” Carly says as she tries to get up, knowing that they’re not going to have a logical conversation in the position they’re in.

“I’m comfortable.”  Marshall says with a large smile.

“I can’t think with you this close.” Carly says, as Marshall nuzzles down beside her.

“Ssssshhh. I’m trying to take a nap.” Marshall playfully whispers as Carly smiles and totally gives up trying to talk to him and closes her eyes.

“I Love You.” Marshall whispers after a few minutes of silence as they reposition on their sides Carly resting her head next to his chest, him resting his head on her head.

“I love you.” Carly sleepily mumbles, before drifting off to a peaceful secure sleep.
