Second Chance ~ 23

Marshall hurries into the bathroom and begins to throw baby and woman things into the bag from the tub and back of the toilet as Dru rushes in.

“Where are you taking them?” Dru calmly asks, as he opens one side of the medicine cabinet, and starts tossing.

“Home!” Marshall firmly states, stopping and looking directly at her.

“Carly’s home is here.” Dru sincerely states.

“Carly’s home is with ME!” Marshall firmly states, tossing everything from the counter into the bag.

“What makes you think that?” Dru carefully asks, closing the door.

“Cause she fuckin’ loves me!” Marshall agitatedly states, continuing to toss things into the bag.

“Well . . . I give you that. She really does. I’ve always felt there was  . . . Madison’s father . . . never in a million years did I think I would be You.” Dru explains with a small sarcastic laugh.

“STOP!” Dru yells, finally noticing what he’s doing and roughly grabbing the bag.

“I don’t have time for this!” Marshall agitatedly growls, trying to grab the overnight bag back.

“Half the SHIT! . . . . you wanna take the tub too?” Dru says with a laugh, pulling the alcohol and peroxide back out.

“Nooo! This has to stay.” Marshall whines, quickly putting the peroxide back in the bag.

“You don’t have any?” Dru playfully asks, with a confused expression.

“It’s Sentimental!” Marshall defensively states, shifting from one foot to the other, thinking back to their first night and she happily tortured him.

“I don’t wanna know.” Dru states with a laugh, looking into the bag and taking a quick inventory with a laugh.

“Okay . . . first aide stays.” Dru says with a laugh and then opens the other side of the cabinet and tosses in deodorant, vitamins and birth control.

“We don’t need these!” Marshall quickly states grabbing them out and tossing them to the small trash can by the sink.

“I think maybe Carly should have a vote in that matter.” Dru says playfully pushing him out of the way to retrieving the pills.

“NO!” Marshall firmly states but Dru still pulls them from the trash and tries to put them in the bag.

“They didn’t work the first time.” Marshall quickly points out swatting her hand away and zipping the bag.

“I’m leaving several guys here if you need them you can talk to the press if you like . . .” Marshall nervously rambles, flinging the bag on his shoulder.

“I Love Carly and Madison I wouldn’t to do that! They’re just as much my Family as they are yours!” Dru agitatedly states.

MARSHALL We Need To GO!” Box agitatedly growls pounding on the closed door.

“Alright!” Marshall agitatedly shouts.

“They’re going to hound you cause your a neighbor.” Marshall explains.

“Kevin has a shotgun . . . we can handle it.” Dru comments with a small laugh.

“The guys will be here if you need them.” Marshall seriously says.

“Just always remember Kevin Has A Shotgun that I Know How To Use!” Dru firmly points out, looking directly into his eyes.

“I have my shit together this time.” Marshall sincerely says.

“A Second Chance is a precious gift . . .” Dru sincerely says, pulling him into a tight hug.

“I’ve never once stopped loving her and I promise you that I will do it right this time. I’ve lived without her and I don’t want to go back.” Marshall emotionally says with his whole body heart and soul, carefully pulling away as Box knocks again.

Marshall knowing Carly’s is going to kill him nervously holds tightly to Hailie listening to Box explain that Paul who was taking care of business is now on his way to the jet, and that Snake, Marcus and Nelson are on their way to Carly’s office and will take her straight to the jet, cause luckily at the moment the crowd seems to not know she isn’t here.

“Mr. Mathers?” A police officer politely asks after following one of the security men in the back door.

“Yes . . .” Marshall nervously says as Hailie stands then he does.

“I’m Chief Smith from the Wilmington Grove Police Department. It’s an honor to have you in our town, my girls . . . . . For the safety of the people outside and for your own I have to know your plan.” Chief Smith says; a little set back at first from the posters in his teenager daughter’s bedrooms coming to life, shaking Marshall’s hand.

“They’re leaving.” Dru emotionally announces carefully handing Madison over to Marshall.

“They’re children . . . . I assume there Will Be Escorts to the airport.” Dru firmly says.

“Yes Mama . . . . will you be leaving soon?” Chief Smith carefully asks, knowing the screaming crying radical fans and nosey annoying reporters can only be held back for so long.

“YES I’m waiting for security to get Carly when they have her and moving towards the plane we move.” Marshall radically explains in one continuous breathe.

“Who is this Carly?” Chief Smith carefully asks, knowing he has to move this mess to a secure place, for everyone’s safety.

“My Future Wife if I live through her rage.” Marshall nonchalantly comments, Hailie quickly crossing her fingers that he does.

“Take care of MY Family!” Dru tries to firmly states with tears in her eyes placing a gently kiss on Madison’s sleeping cheek, and then looking directly into Marshall’s blue eyes.

“I promise!” Marshall confidently says, hugging her with his free arm.

“Car Seat! You’re gonna need a car seat . . . I have one.” Dru erratically says, stepping away and nudging one of the muscular men to follow.

Several intense what seems to be long moments pass with Chief Smith and his men talking with Box and Marshall, till his cel phone rings.

“They have her.” Marshall announces, as Carly emotionally screams.

“We’re moving!” Box announces into his walkie talkie, glancing over at the Chief who quickly announces the same thing.

Marshall loudly explains over her emotional state that it’s now time for them to move and with all his heart tries to apologize and tries to assure her that she can kill him in about twenty minutes and that he loves her, before hanging up.

“They don’t scare ME! I’m walking!” Hailie firmly states, as Box goes to pick her up.

“Hailie Jade we don’t have time to argue! Box is carrying you!” Marshall firmly states, as B is gently tossing a baby blanket over Madison sleeping against his chest.

“This is not the time for a Mathers’ face off. I’ll take one hand and Box will have the other! You stay in the front and you in back and Your people do what every they got to do! Now let’s Go! There’s a mother frantically waiting for her son!” B sternly explains.

Everyone nervously leaves through the back door, two Explores pulled up as close to the house as possible, but the fenced in back yard causing Marshall and family to be seen by everyone, and the noise becomes deafening.

Madison quickly awakened and begins to struggle against the blanket, pissed off with it, but scared from the loud noise begins to scream.

Marshall struggles to keep him under the blanket and as close to Hailie as possible with what he thinks is the longest walk of his life, but reality it only a few yards.

Marshall frantically takes the blanket away after getting into the Explore that has blacked out windows, and his heart shatters, laying eyes on the totally petrified child screaming for his Mommy and E.

“STOP!” Marshall urgently yells, as the vehicle begins to slowly back up, scaring Madison even more, but the vehicle coming to a stop.

“Where’s Elmo? Has anyone seen Elmo a red stuff animal we can’t leave till we have IT!” Marshall urgently states, beginning to bounce Madison in his arms.

“Maddie here’s Elmo.” Hailie quickly soothingly says, pulling it from her back pack, and handing it over to him from the back seat.

“Thank You. I WANT MY MOMMY TOO!” Madison angrily cries, as Marshall quickly motions the driver to go.

“I Want My Mommy? I want My MOMMY!” Madison emotionally cries over and over, as Marshall is quickly buckling him into the car seat, calmly trying to reassure him that everything is going to be okay.

When it doesn’t work he quickly takes off his D 12 medallion and wraps the chain around Elmo’s neck five times, so it hangs securely on the red monsters soft chest and hands it to Madison, who quiets down for about ten seconds before the tears and yelling for his Mommy begins again.

“Hailie Jade! Put your seat belt back on!” Marshall firmly states, but she ignores climbing from the back set to their middle seat.

“Hailie Jade!” Marshall firmly states, unbuckling his own seat belt and moving over as she squeezes in between him and the car seat.

Hailie gently takes her little brother’s chubby little hand and begins to explain that everything is going to be okay, and when that doesn’t work asks for her backpack.

“Hailie . . . Baby you need to get back in your seat. He’ll be alright when he sees Carly.” Marshall emotionally tries to calmly explain, glancing over at Box sitting on the other side of the car seat for some kind of help. B passes her backpack over the seat to Box and he hands it over to her.

Hailie quickly pulls out her Barbie and Ken and dances them around in front of him who quickly quiets down and grabs for the dolls and Box laughs.

“Baby brothers always like your stuff better according to Samantha.” Hailie nonchalantly explains, as Marshall and Box watch in amazement; Marshall recalling Samantha as one of her friends.

“Samantha has one.” Hailie quickly adds, thinking about Samantha’s annoying little brother, but knowing Maddie is never going to be annoying, as she is quickly pulling off the dolls shoes, and Madison is taking a taste of Barbie’s head, but quickly pushing it away when her hair gets in his mouth.

“Okay you need to get back in your seat.” Marshall carefully says, as Madison seems to be content in Hailie dancing the Ken doll around the edges of the car seat, not noticing that he is holding onto her other hand.

Hailie seeing the stress in her father’s eyes starts to hand over the Ken doll as she moves her other hand from Madison’s tight hold and he screams bloody murder.

Hailie quickly takes hold of his hand again as he snuggles with Elmo in his other hand, Box kinda of holding Elmo up so he doesn’t slip from the little chubby hand.

“Looks like you’re going over the seat.” Box simply comments with a small laugh, Marshall not caring as long as his Two children are happy.

Marshall awkwardly goes over the seat, almost kicking Hailie in the head once, but finally getting over and then quickly leaning over and buckling her in. Holding his breathe for several seconds after noticing that she is now not able to dance the doll in front of Madison, but sits back when Madison seems to be happy with just holding her hand and the other holding Elmo.

B lovingly caressing over his arm with a warm loving smile, trying to reassure him that everything will work out.

“Where there is a will! There is a Way!” B firmly states with another loving smile, her eyes connecting with a much stressed blue.

Marshall forces a smile, and then turns attention to the window, his mind thinking how he has fucked up everyone’s life.
